Fluenz® Spanish Software Suites: An Honest Review
by Maria Cristina Silva Lopez Oct 2011 | LearnSpanish Programs co-editor
If I had to learn Spanish again and software cost wasn't an issue, I'd hire a native speaking Spanish tutor...
Having a tutor is probably the best way to learn a language...but it isn't cheap. As one myself I admint I need to make ends meet, and my classes are pricey.
Many students simply don’t have the money for long-term tuition. In those cases I recommend they buy Fluenz Spanish. Here's what makes this Spanish software so unique...
Who created Fluenz Spanish?
Fluenz Spanish was created by a team of language learners who combined the best about language tuition and software, to make the first tutor-based program in the market.
The motivation behind this new Spanish tutorial software was that 'existing language acquisition methods don't work' at least not today. They're all obsessed with games, gimmicks, and grammar. The old school tactics may have worked in the 19th century but now it only serves to bore students to tears.

How does the Fluenz Spanish 1, 2 learning Suites Work?
To sum it up, Fluenz Spanish works by utilizing team-leader Sonia Gil, the on-screen tutor. She simply introduces you to a spanish conversation, you listen, Sonia explains, you practice, and even as a beginner you start to actually participate in the conversation.
a Spanish session can at times feel like a repetitive structure with long lessons.
But overall the pace of the learning spanish fun, simple, and entertaining with ongoing reinforcement learning techniques that continue to push you to expand your Spanish learning database. What I liked is that
I'm not learning random, simple child like Spanish words and phrases like "dog, blue, run, apple," etc.
Instead the Fluenz' learning approach via. immersion involves makes you practice real world Spanish conversations. Practical Spanish help for ordering food, asking for directions to your hotel or airport, asking for help, giving
instructions to a taxi driver, cultural responses to show respect to elders, and so on.
Is it Easy to Use?
The Fluenz Spanish program was created for adults to learn Spanish not kids and certainly not children. This shows in the teaching and the software. However, the interface is really simple, but just in case all buttons are labeled and intuitive. The software operates on all Windows systems beginning in 2000, and Macs 10.3 or higher. Basically, if you have a computer, it works. Simply insert the Fluenz DVD into the DVD-ROM drive and it starts automatically.
Does Fluenz offer any Bonus, Coupon or Discount offers?
I chase these without shame. What I've found is Fluenz' price changes depending on how many learning suites you purchase up front. If you buy the program directly from the Fluenz website, prices are considerably lower: $187 to $598 (as opposed to $218-$677) which includes a 30-day money-back guarantee, and free shipping within the US. Also, Fluenz offers a $5 discount if you use Google checkout. That still puts this software on the higher end of prices. But if you take a minute to consider the price of ongoing, one-on-one tuition sessions (a minimum of $20), Fluenz Spanish learning suite tuition pricing is a comparatively cheap spanish program.
WARNING: Third party 'Free' bonus offer packages with inflated values are often scams used as a ploy to garner your email address for subsequent spam offers. In the long run you'll be better served staying with Fluenz Discount and Bonus offers guaranteed and supported through the company developers.
For those who are price sensitive try Fluenz Spanish for Free . There’s an easy demo download on the website if you prefer to try before you buy. And don’t risk a Fluenz rapid share download, as there have been reported strings of Malware imbedded in certain .exe files.
What do I Really get?

Is this the Best Spanish Program for Learning?
The answer to this question is always relative to the goals of the user. If you want to learn Spanish for travelling abroad so you can chat with the locals, then yes, Fluenz Spanish is the way to go.
If you want to talk to your Cuban mechanic about repairing the head gasket of your car, you'll need a more thorough comprehensive Spanish program. What fluenz does well is to take somthing that we already know and understand (English) and use it to leverage your learning a new language, in this case, Spanish.
So one of the best ways for you to learn Spanish is with explanations in English. For example, it is nearly impossible to audibly differentiate between the critical Spanish verbs "ser" and "estar" without you first getting a clear explanation in English. That's where Fluenz' Spanish tutoring plays a vital role in helping you sound and pronounce the differences.
What's Fluenz support like?
The interface of the program lends itself to almost a support free Spanish tutorial. Emphasis on 'almost'. So, if you have some kind of problem the user manual (see below) offers some trouble shooting help, and the program has video demos for all its functionalities. However, their email box and phone support are open for ongoing program support or for just general Spanish language help or questions.Spanish Program Reviews
